Elder Frederick A. Pompey Jr.

Senior Pastor

Frederick A. Pompey Jr., a prolific speaker, a powerful singer, and the senior pastor of the New Calvary Baptist Church in Philadelphia, whose goal is to make his community better by serving its people. He was ordained an Elder on July 10, 2011 and installed as Pastor on November 5, 2011.

Frederick A. Pompey Jr.'s work in the community was recently the subject of an article in a publication that features pastors under 30 years old. At an early age Frederick A. Pompey Jr., accepted and confessed the Lord Jesus Christ as his Lord and personal Savior. This is when Pastor Pompey fell in love with God, the things of the God and church work. Although all of his life he was told he was called and chosen to preach the gospel, it was at the age of 16 that he realized the call upon his life was sure and evident.

His first love and ministry has always been his gift of song. Since he was able to talk he loved to sing. Local talent shows, family gatherings, school talent shows and in the school choir you could count on Frederick to sing. But what he enjoyed most was singing in church on Sunday morning. For Frederick, it could be a solo, during testimony service, or with the choir he just wanted to sing. His favorite song is the anthem of the Church of God in Christ (C.O.G.I.C), "YES, LORD". Frederick has had the privilege to sing with many groups and community choirs such as Pennsylvania Baptist State Convention Eastern Regional Choir, Joy Unlimited, a choir for youth based in Philadelphia, PA, John Payton & Perfecting Holiness Outreach Chorale, Bryan Jackson & Chosen Generation Ministries, just to name a few.

Frederick A. Pompey Jr., is a true to the heart family man. His siblings and his nieces and nephews are the apples of his eye. He enjoys spending time with them; they have away of brightening up his day. Fredrick has been giving many nicknames over the years such as "PJ, Lil Preacher Man and Peanuts, to name a few; but he treasures Uncle JJ, given to him by his nephew Samir the most. Many times a year he hosts family gatherings, one being his famous cookout.

Frederick A. Pompey attended Imhotep Chater And He Received His Diploma From The State Of PA.Frederick A. Pompey's mission is simply to exist for the purpose to glorify God by leading people into a growing knowledge and relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, by sharing the love of God, empowering believers, evangelizing to the lost.

Pastor Pompey's vision is that New Calvary Baptist Church will become a church without walls with established ministries that empowers our members and transforms our community. In addition, to serve as a hub for the lost, unprivileged and the underserved; a place to develop witnesses who will take the Gospel to the heart of the community proclaiming a message of healing, advocacy and hope in the Lord Jesus Christ.
